Musical Practice & Performance Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for musicians, students, and enthusiasts. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I am looking for an easy to read list of common musical terms. My band director is always talking about how she is going to give us a quiz sometime soon on the musical terms that are found in our music. I would like to have some common terms with a quick definition and a picture if possible

Note that this question is merely for historical value, to make it easy for new users on the site.

There are published textbooks that provide this information. Make a trip to your school library. – Wheat Williams Apr 26 at 6:29

That would be why I said it was for historical value – Cody Guldner Apr 26 at 11:11
Understood. But take a look at all the trouble I got into with the alternate-tunings grab-bag. If the information is already available, there's simply no need to start our own list (however well-intentioned). – luser droog Apr 26 at 21:43
