I have uploaded cover of a bollywood song in my own voice on Youtube. Also, submitted it for the monetization. But, it has been blocked by YouTube saying that

"Your video may include clips that are owned by a third party."

Just want to know is it not legal to upload the cover of a song ?

  • This question does not appear to be about music practice, performance, composition, technique, theory, or history within the scope defined in the help center.
If this question can be reworded to fit the rules in the help center, please edit the question.

If you don't own any rights to the song, or the owner of the song has registered copyrights prohibiting monetization of covers then YouTube will take it down. You can't make money out of other people's songs.

They may or may not allow you to keep the video up, but you will certainly not receive any money for it unless you contact the record label and request a license of some form.
