I'd like to know what type of wind instrument is used for the solo part in Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark's "Talking Loud and Clear"? I'm guessing it's some sort of wood instrument.

Assuming this is the track you are referring to, the wind instrument used is either a soprano or alto saxophone.

Album sleeve notes more or less confirm it - soprano and tenor saxes are listed. discogs.com/viewimages?release=126489 –  slim Jan 24 '12 at 16:55

Wow. I would have never guessed it to be a sax. Thanks! –  Martijn Jan 24 '12 at 20:16
