I need to purchase a noise gate because I will be soon recording in a studio but I cannot choose between the Boss NS-2 and the ISP Technologies Decimator. Which one is better? I want something that doesn't change my tone at all but takes away all the hum and hiss (the hum comes from my distortion pedal).

Are you sure the hum comes from your distortion pedal, not from your guitar? Obviously, distortion pedals greatly raise the level of hum coming from the guitar. Does it disappear when you turn down the guitar's volume pot? – If it really comes from the pedal, you should perhaps consider replacing that! – leftaroundabout May 23 '12 at 17:55
Shopping questions are off topic on stackexchange as different people will have different views. If you need a comparison you would be better going to a music products review site – Dr Mayhem May 23 '12 at 20:13
I am sure it's the distortion that makes the hum, but making a bit of noise it's a characteristic of distortion pedals. – Dime Is God May 24 '12 at 17:17
