My wife and I want to buy a piano for our 9 years old.

We are not sure if we should get her a classic piano or a digital one.

Basically we like the idea of earphones / volume control / mobility and exemption from tuning the instrument of the digital piano, but we don't want the instrument to have too many features that will destruct her and turn it into another digital attraction.

We want a full-weighted instrument with 88 keys, the option to connect earphones and control the instruments volume. Its o.k. it if will have more then a single voice but we don't want one with 60....

Can you suggest digital piano models we should we look at ?

Yes, but I'm mainly a guitarist so my needs might not reflect that of a more demanding pianist. But I've played pianos with much nicer pedal and better weighted keys, but those were four times the price as well. – MdaG Oct 28 '12 at 15:17
That's valuable empirical evidence (despite being limited) which would make this a better answer. It was auto-flagged as 'low quality' for being so short. [Oddly enough, Raskolnikov's wasn't. I have a Yamaha P-70. It's very minimalistic and the price is OK for the sound quality it provides.
