I am looking to buy my first electric guitar. I have an acoustic but want to play some rock n roll.

Interested in black sabbath , pink Floyd, led zeppelin , acdc, Kim Mitchell, etc

For a 250 dollar budget what would you recommend?

One of the squire starter packs?

Thank you !

I owned a squier, they are cool and worth your money, though I'd suggest trying as many guitars as you can at shops and buying the one you feel comfortable with. Brands and models doesn't really mean a lot usually. – G. Kayaalp Feb 20 at 12:33
@G.Kayaalp thanks! I've read good and bad things about the squire so I had to ask. It shouldn't be too big of a deal I'm not in a band or anything. – Twinborn Feb 20 at 12:56
it is a vey big deal. It is not only a piece of wood, it is something you will have emotional relations to. It is something you will touch and listen all day long. Moreover, it is your first guitar. Pick something you'll love, cheap or expensive. – G. Kayaalp Feb 20 at 13:03

I do believe what everyone's saying here is good. A squier is definitely a good choice for starters. But it won't do any harm to spend time trying other guitars out there that might fit your budget and pique your interest. This "canvasing" will not only give you a clearer idea of what you're really looking for (weight,# of pickups/type of pickups, fret board length/width and feel, aesthetics, etc) but it will also make you more knowledgeable about electric guitars. If I may add, I do suggest that for your first electric guitar, you choose an electric guitar with a fixed bridge. I would NOT recommend floating bridges (aka the ones where you can do sick whammy bar tricks) for starters as you might find tuning/maintenance difficult. That's all. Good luck!

You can't go wrong with either a Squier/Epiphone/Ibanez starter packs. Give them a try and get whichever feels more confortable for your playing or appeals the most to you. Have fun!
