What are the characteristic scales, keys, intervals, progressions, etc. of pirate / sailing / nautical music? The song I ended up writing was in 12/8 or similar (not formally metered) for exactly that reason, it kind of mirrors the structure of navy/military music I guess (Original pirates were ex navy) |
