comment Is there any difference between a soprano trombone and a slide trumpet?
Wikipedia (untrustworthy as always) lists "The range of the E♭ sopranino trombone is A3 to E♭6; that of the B♭ piccolo trombone is E4 to F7." which is actually more or less the same as a trumpet (E3-*6)

comment Is there a canonical piano grading system?
This sounds vaguely similar to the British system (no surprise) which is dictated by several bodies. The larger of which I believe is the Associated Board of The Royal Schools of Music followed by Guildhall/Trinity (which have merged) which offer board set exams in theory and musicianship (performance) from level 1-8. 1-3 is beginner, 4-6 is intermediate and 7-8 is advanced (iirc there is nothing beyond 8).

comment Software that Transposes Music?
If transposing in full octaves is the problem, I would spend a little more time on learning to read music. This is the easiest transposition to do and does not require a lot of training and in the long run it'll be required and save you a lot of running to the computer for simple problems.
