What is distinctive about the Hammond B3 organ? I like your answer very much. It better explains the point I tried to make in the comment I posted above. Other organs could compete, but Hammond is a "standard" already loved by many musicians. |

What is distinctive about the Hammond B3 organ? Yes, and I believe there are some other famous additive synthesizers (even thought I can't think of any now). The leslie speaker isn't exclusive to it too, but the fact is: how close to these characteristics can you get before it's a mere clone? For instance, there are several apps and VST plugins that were crafted exclusively to emulate this sound and feel, but in spite of that I saw (and heard) an actual Hammond Organ on Roger Waters stage last sunday. It was a great concert BTW :) |

Why does music sound bad when played backwards? Yes indeed, this seems to be the case many times. In fact the brain uses the clues given by the attack and the different volumes of the sound and its harmonics to perceive musical information. I know there's some papers analysing this somewhere but I'm not finding them now. |

What would be the a good tuning for an instrument with a limited amount of tones? Is this a purely theoretical question or you have an instrument in mind? It's hard to answer it, but I'll post my try at it shortly. |

How to effectively of use a lower tuned guitar Yeah I know about tuning up into the notes and that should not be the problem. In fact sometimes I observed it going out of tune to a higher pitch and I suppose that may be due to the flabbiness you talk about. |

How to effectively of use a lower tuned guitar Interesting, but this begs the question: seeing that not all strings in this tuning are downtuned, 1 and 3 remain the same and 2 is increased half-step, should I still get 12's? |

Is there software for computer assisted drum lessons with MIDI input? Yes, that seems precisely what I was looking for. I'll check this out later today. |

Is there software for computer assisted drum lessons with MIDI input? That looks promising, but could you specify how the software contemplates my question. Does it work with MIDI input and are there lessons available? |

What instruments are inexpensive, portable and not too loud? That's not a proper answer but a cool thing to try is 'imaginary drumming' using your legs as snare and cymbals and of course your feet as drum pedals. A real drum of course is out of question :) |

Are there vocal exercises that can be done through the course of the day while doing other things? I really liked the advice, even if it's a little more general then what I expected. I've been trying doing this and I think it's helping me get the airflow right when I'm going to sing "for real". I wish I could get more answers here, but I guess this question was too specific. |

How well does mental practice work for you on different instruments? This is relevant to my interests. Being an amateur guitar and keyboard player, I've tried "practicing" this way and I can say it did not help me a lot. At the very least it made it easier to internalize some hard passages from a song or some exercise. |

Are there vocal exercises that can be done through the course of the day while doing other things? Actually sometimes it's ok to make sounds. For example when I'm sitting alone in my room. |
