Is there a “standard” or “typical” drum kit layout? Added note that this is "standard" for a rock kit and does not describe other standards like Jazz kits |

Is there a “standard” or “typical” drum kit layout? I can't say I've ever sat at a kit where it has just one crash and it's on the right. As you're usually keeping time with the high hat you want to be able to move back to the high hat from the crash as quickly/smoothly as possible. And being a righty most of the time you'll be hitting the crash with your right hand. |
