And this Daniel Coyle guy doesn't explain it in his book? So what is he talking about really?

There's a new feature on IMSLP allowing searches by melody.

comment Capitalization of key names (C Minor vs. c minor)
I thought the point of using C and c was to let go of the description Major/minor altogether. But it seems not.

comment Prokofiev's style
Hello @Rein Henrichs, I think you better change the link to this one, for the one you have given only contains the introduction and first chapter. And maybe you want to add a link to this as well, which contains an analysis of Prokofiev's piano pieces.

comment How useful is a metronome for playing the piano?
Certainly, but also pieces with 3 against 2 rythms (or 3 against 4) for instance. I break up to a common denominator so that I can play them exactly and progressively speed up until I get the feel for it. Once I have it, I don't need the metronome anymore.

I think it's a valid musicological question: what is the musical history behind the "Danse Macabre" and what are examples of compositions with this theme. In particular the baroque ones.

What about the musical examples at the very end of the page? There's one from 1598! That's not the piece you are looking for, but it shows that the theme is old, very old!

comment How to handle a newly purchased score book that won't stay opened?
No, unless the clothespins are dirty. But I keep some apart only for this purpose. ;D You have to be careful to not crumple the paper at the place where you apply them.
