I play guitar on my own, at open mic nights, and as part of a weekly get-together for guitarists, and as part a reggae band, for fun.

When decreasing string gauge on a bass guitar, will I need to adjust the truss rod? +1 because I have my guitar set up professionally, and I'm glad I do. However, the OP adjusts the action himself, cleans pots, raises and lowers pickups - he's obviously keen. The pro wasn't always an expert either. |

Using Amplitube for iPad on stage @ekaj by "too many effects in the chain", horatio probably means effects in the virtual chain within the iPad. |

Using Amplitube for iPad on stage I've seen professionals on stage with iPads (for example, Bjork). |

Using Amplitube for iPad on stage The question as originally set was way too broad (there are hundreds of music apps for iPad), so I have edited it down to the specific one you had. |

What is the relationship between “do re mi” and note letter names? I note that the Sound of Music song is in Bb, to they're using movable Doh :) |

Organ technique for pianists I'd say self-tuition is the best option if you're cash-poor and time-rich; a teacher makes sense if it's the other way around (although either way, you'll get nowhere if you don't find time to practice) |

Dealing with different tunings on stage If you can tune well by ear, then that's great - but it doesn't make sense to forego an electronic tuner if the result is that you'll be out of tune. |

What stretches should I be do doing to reduce my chance of injury from long term playing? I think if it belongs here, there needs to be a separate question for each type of instrument. A guitarist, drummer, pianist, trombonist, all use completely different muscles. Even an acoustic guitar and an electric guitar player (with light gauge strings and super-low action) would have very different needs. |
