I play guitar on my own, at open mic nights, and as part of a weekly get-together for guitarists, and as part a reggae band, for fun.

@awe worth noting, and indeed I'll edit to that effect.

By the way - A7sus4, since it contains neither C nor C#, has no indication of whether it's major or minor. To in a piece in C major, A7sus4 will feel as if it has a "missing" C. In a piece in A major, it will feel has if it has a "missing" C#.

Yes, any combination of the notes CDEFGAB is in the key of C. You can hold them all down together if you like (it doesn't mean it'll sound good).

comment Does the three chord trick always end a chord progression on the third chord?
A very common rock'n'roll 3 chord progression is 4*I 2*V 2*I VI V 2*I - which ends on an I. An embellishment is to use a VI as a turnaround, which might be what you're thinking of.

comment How can I reproduce the effects on this riff in Iron Maiden - Afraid to Shoot Strangers?
I don't hear a harmonic melody line until later in the song. You could get close to it with a "harmonized pitch shifter" -- there's even one in the budget Zoom G1. You tell it what key you're playing in, and it plays a note shifted up a third adjusted for the key.

comment Is there a difference between 2/4 and 4/4
@KimDavisHanson from a military/dancing point of view I'm sure that's important. From a musical point of view, it's not. I guess it would help feel the beat if on the first beat you were landing with your strongest foot.
