I play guitar on my own, at open mic nights, and as part of a weekly get-together for guitarists, and as part a reggae band, for fun.

comment What is good software for learning how to sight-read?
@11684 If the player can stay within the scale (particularly easy, for, say, a beginner pianist playing in C major), there's not much of a way to tell. Unless of course, your aim is to play what YOU think sounds nice, rather than what's written.

comment Tips and tools to help transcribing a bass line in tablature
If you can't hear what note it is in the original, does it matter which note you transcribe? ;)

comment Finding the right rhythm for a tune
@Babu The Pet Shop Boys song Left To My Own Devices includes the lyric "Che Guevara and Debussy to a Disco Beat", and the 12" "Disco Mix" takes the opportunity to do just that. youtube.com/… -- only for a couple of bars unfortunately.

comment Tuning a tuning fork?
There should be a frequency marked on the tuning fork itself. Trust that, not the box.

Why don't you want to anchor? It works...

comment I bought a guitar transducer (external pickups). How do I mount it for the best sound?
The "Internal mounting instructions" are what they say they are. If you want to mount externally, then just ignore those instructions. @Matthewread I suggest you remote the "old idea" section. It just distracts from the correct answer above.

comment What is good software for learning how to sight-read?
@11684 If you've never heard the tune before, and just have a score to read, how do you know how it should sound? Only through skill at sight reading.

comment How to identify the root note of a chord
Sub-bass = "deeper than a human can hear"; ultra-sonic = "higher than a human can hear". To play a chord containing all the Cs, just hold down every C on the keyboard (you may need help, as two hands is not enough).

What's the first bit you don't understand? I'll try to explain better.
