Not qualified for a full answer, but you can get some clues from chopin to be sure: when he sweeps across the entire keyboard, the intervals tend to be larger at the bottom and smaller at the top -- this is consistent with how the ear likes to hear harmony (see harmonic series).

I think one important concept for this is the notion of these sequences not being melodic but gestural. Each individual note is important, but they are not being perceived as individual notes -- the entire sequence (in the case of Chopin) is perceived by the listener as one.

comment Position of white dots in guitar fretboard
Not sure where the downvote is from, but one really specific thing I notice is that technically speaking, fretboards are (typically) equal-tempered, not well-tempered.

I was going to close as software-rec, but I believe this has a valid question about synthesis methods.

comment New Jackson Rhoads RRXMG control knob confusion
After looking at some of the online resources, it really seems like the consistency isn't very high with this model -- Jackson's own website shows a picture with three knobs, but only claims to have a master tone and master volume. Another site claims one master volume and two tone knobs. If you do bring the guitar to a shop, they should be able to rewire it to your preferences.

On the last example, the "freely" manner of playing those notes comes from the "senza tempo" marking just before. The significance of the small notes in this case just means they don't count rhythmically against the meter of that measure. You'll note that the two dotted half notes that make up the "big note" rhythm of the bar still equal a full measure of 12/8 time.

Ah, sure -- I'll bet there are some interesting peer-reviewed journal articles on the subject.

comment How do I convert music to a mathematical formula?
I think this question is too open-ended and requires a little more research on your part to learn and decide what you're going for here. There are dozens of ways to write music for any given irrational number, so clearly that's not a 1:1 relationship. And technically speaking, I could scan some sheet music to turn it in to a "formula" of digital symbols, and then print it out again to "convert back".
