Guitar tutoring software that listens to your playing? I recently bought the RB3 guitar - cost, including the required MIDA adapter, was $300. The guitar came setup to spec and is decent. One thing I don't like is the notched frets which make bends annoying. The notches divide the frets into zones and that's how the game picks up where your fingers are. The game is a decent way to learn songs visually. The built in tutorials are pretty good so far. I've worked on a couple of songs in expert pro mode - it really does feel like playing. I don't like that you have to engage a string damper to get the most accurate strum detection. |

How do I hold the electric guitar? Are you standing or sitting? I found when I sat playing the electric I had a tendency to slouch over the guitar causing pain under my right shoulder blade. I've started playing standing up more and being more conscious of not slouching when I do sit. I also sit on a stool now instead of a chair. |

My fingers ache after practice. What can I do about it? @Bad Horse, high action means the distance between the string and the frets is higher than necessary to prevent fret buzz |

Proper maintenance for classic guitars? I've never heard of a plastic fretboard (except on a rock band controller type guitar). |

Why is my neck pickup quieter when playing with both pickups? I have this same guitar and I've had to fix my pickup switch twice. It would only play the neck pickup when in the middle position. I corrected this by bending the little contact so that it would not shut off the bridge pick up. |

Tips playing F barre chord I don't know if it's just my guitar, but I find playing the first fret barre chords more tiring than say the 5th fret. So you may want to practice your barre chords higher up on the neck at first. |

How can I get a sound similar to Shine by Collective Soul? I just realized that drop C# would really suck. Hehe. That's just the way I've thought of that tuning in my head but it's really not accurate. |

Need Help in Starting to Learn Guitars? This is so true. When I was a kid, my dad insisted on buying me an expensive acoustic and all I ever really wanted to play was electric. I played for a year or so and got decent as a beginner. Now, 30 years later, I finally have the electric I wanted and am really enjoying playing again. |

How does scale length affect my playing? That has to be one of the best, most well-thought-out answers I've ever seen. If that was an English paper, I'd give you an A+. |

The “right” way to use my pinky. I have trouble fitting all three of my fingers if I try to use the individual fretting technique. However, I don't use my pinky but my ring finger. |

My guitar goes out of tune at a higher pitch rather than lower, is that normal? When the humidity goes down (I live in Houston, so it can go down alot) all of my strings will be sharp. |

Can Playing Cause Back Pain In Right Shoulder Blade? Thanks for the link -- I'll have to give some different sitting positions a try. I definitely hunch over which is something I need to change. |
