Learning instrument recognition Might I also suggest following along in the score. imslp.org has many public domain music scores. Find one and listen along. |

What does one slash through a half note stem AND 4 dots above it mean? You are most welcome. I think your question was a really good one! |

How to deal with the fear of auditions? I used to have a big fear of auditions. But like many things, practice makes perfect. The more I do it the easier it gets. Still not a breeze, still get stressed out, but I can play more reliably. |

Is it easier to play on a Grand Piano than an Upright Piano? Upon second thought, I stand corrected. |

Arbitrary length full-measure rests in Lilypond If there is an improvisation going on, maybe consider using a fermata over a single R1 rest. |

Harmonizing melody exercise question with specific parameters +1 Good catch. Much agreed. Though this resolution doesn't "break the rules," it still just doesn't sound right. |

Is it possible to play a low A on a recorder The only way your are going to get a low A out of a C recorder is to add more piping to the instrument. I'd highly suggest just getting an alto recorder. |

Is it possible to play a low A on a recorder @SomeshMukherjee no it is not. You would need to make it yourself out of pvc pipe. |

Finding the “Starting point” when creating a composition or score My understanding of the issue of composition is the whatever works approach. Though I don't compose myself, that's just always been my understanding of it. |

Notation on Schubert's Op.94, D760, piece 6 I've seen this in other scores for other instruments. Think of it like a footnote or endnote. |

Is it possible to play a low A on a recorder Thanks, it seems you are correct. In that case, I'd just suggest OP use an alto recorder instead of a soprano. |
