Taking the keys off a clarinet is a very very bad idea unless you are a trained repair person. Additionally, oiling a plastic clarinet is completely useless and will not help with the musty smell anyway.

My suggestion would be to record one hand, then practice listening to it while playing the other hand. Then you can begin to hear what it should sound like. I know this suggestion has nothing to do with hand independency, but it's where I would start if I were to attempt anything even remotely like this.

I used to have a big fear of auditions. But like many things, practice makes perfect. The more I do it the easier it gets. Still not a breeze, still get stressed out, but I can play more reliably.
