How do I clean the windway on my recorder? @Luke, your question makes me laugh as I think of my answer. I always clean my clarinet mouthpieces with Efferdent (the dentures cleaner). |

How do I clean the windway on my recorder? I agree with what is said here. However, be careful when using a pipe cleaner because the metal can scratch the instrument and damage it. Brass can handle brushes, but plastic especially is prone to scratching. |

Assess child's ability or interest in music and piano I felt the same way about piano when I was a kid. Looking back, I now wish I had stuck with those lessons. |

What should I look for when buying a used trombone? A good mouthpiece is always handy. Instruments generally come with a "stock" mouthpiece. But sometimes you can find people selling their instruments with a quality one in the case. As a woodwind player, I know that very very often a good mouthpiece can outweigh the quality of the instrument. Not sure if this is true for brass, but it's certainly something to look into. |

What should I look for when buying a used trombone? I don't much have an answer to your question because I'm not a trombonist, but one thing I would suggest is finding a trombonist or trombone teacher in your area who can help you look at instruments. You'd have to pay them for their time, but their expertise will ensure you get the best instrument for your money. |

Best way to notationally indicate that a solo phrase in an instrumental section should end @Smovies, yes, when "tutti" is written in a part, and especially after the "solo" indication, it means for the entire section to enter. |
