Why do minor keys sound “sad”? Yeah, goths rejoice in A-minor. |

What does it mean to write a song in a certain key? So what is the advantage of even saying a song is in a particular key? |

I want to learn how to sing. Where do I start? Relax. Don't discourage him from practicing "because he's going to learn bad habits." That's like saying to a kid who wants to play basketball, "don't practice before you make the team, because you're going to teach yourself bad habits." Actually having practiced before seeing a teacher will make what the teacher says make a lot more sense/have relevance/be easier to learn. |

I want to learn how to sing. Where do I start? Yup, exactly. What you're saying is practice and "close the feedback loop". Another thing you can do is stick your finger in your ear while you're singing, so you can hear yourself. This is a really noob thing to do, but it kind of works to start. |

I want to learn how to sing. Where do I start? -1 While the text you linked is very nice linking to it would be a nice comment, this isn't good advice as an answer. Do you really think one should begin by reading a book from 1916? I browsed the text and it would make little sense to me if I hadn't already attended classes by a music instructor. There are plenty of newer books are 4.5-5 star reviewed on average, on Amazon. |

How can I get a sound similar to Shine by Collective Soul? Besides everything here (for NOT the solo riffs, but the main bass/treble riffs through the song), try cutting off the high frequency on your guitars, try it after amp, and also try it pre-amp, to see which is better. If that doesn't work, try playing it outdoors for better results ( ;) ) |

How do I know when to stop singing? "Allow me to say emphatically, a singer should NEVER experience vocal fatigue. If he/she is singing correctly, the voice should not tire." |
