♦Mod on GFH.SE

I have a wide range of interests, including music, history, and math. I have been playing music for three of four years now and play the cornet, recorder, and piano. 100% of the music on my computer is classical, so you should know what genres I prefer ;). I enjoy studying any history and researching my genealogy. American English is my first language, pero tambien hablo Español. I am also currently taking Calculus 1.

comment What is a “producer” in hip-hop music?
This question might be better suited for the Audio-Video Production SE...

comment Can the the same note be trilled two different ways?
I'm more asking about the theoretical issue, not historical context.

comment Can the the same note be trilled two different ways?
It's theoretical. I only put the them side by side to show the difference.

I'm supposing this applies to all piston-valve instruments...

Do you mean Bb major, Bb minor, F major, or D minor?

comment Trouble with schilke trumpet valves
I've never had this problem myself. However, if this is your problem, I can assure you, there is no easy cheap fix. To prove it is (or is not) your problem, try aligning the casing and the valve to a straight-edge. Make sure you can align it from all sides. If it shows completely straight, this is probably not your problem.

comment Trouble with schilke trumpet valves
Your trumpet being from 1972, it's probably been knocked around over the years. If the valves or the pistons are even slightly bent, the friction would make them 'stick'.

comment Understanding the elements of harmony in “honky-tonk” or ragtime style piano
This Wikipedia page, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classic_rag has the 'rules' for classic ragtime. Is that what you're looking for?

comment Turning music on piano so it doesn't fold
A clip wouldn't work if the book was hardcover. Even if the book was paperback, it could still damage the bind. Besides, how would you flip the pages quickly?

comment Turning music on piano so it doesn't fold
Be careful not to press the book too hard when copying. This can also damage the spine.

comment Remove drum track from song given the isolated drum track and the song?
Music SE site definition: "...Topics include practice & performance, composition, technique, theory, and history." This question doesn't seem to fit in any of the following categories. The Audio-Visual SE site seems best for this question.

I was hoping for a more specific routine.

comment Creating a perfect “practice corner”
However, in addition to the above mentioned attribute, many sites state "Yellow has been known to be a frustrating color to work in". Orange on other hand, "conveys an air of exhilaration, cheerfulness, and a burst of the creativity. It evokes excitement, enthusiasm and energy."

comment F on soprano recorder doesn't sound right
It varies by the recorders. On some of mine, I use 1-3-, on others I use 1-34. I don't yet have any that use 1---.

Maybe you could set up the practice corner with ceramic tiling...

comment Can an accidental carry over to the next measure?
Well, sometimes it helps to be extra sure there's no typo.

comment Resources for learning to play the recorder
In some cases, you must start with the soprano. Some children cannot reach all right hand holes. For one, I started on soprano and I turned out fine (I hope). :)

Maybe you could cajole a programmer into writing software for that... :D
