comment Completely computer music: good or bad?
This is my personal opinion. Naïve computer programs (that is, all or almost all programs) that play MIDI or MIDI-like score do it with mechanical perfection, which may sound nice at first, but is rather boring, at least to me. Since my definition of being a good musician includes not only being able to play notes correctly, but to be able do it in a pleasant and/or interesting way, computer programs I have listened to are (by my definition) not good musicians.

comment Why are we worse in the second half and how might we fix that?
Looks like a fatigue+attention issue — after a brief period of firm focus it only gets harder to keep concentration, and more and more unrelated thoughts leak into the head, especially if you are used to playing the piece. You can try to drink coffee and eat some glucose during the break and see if it helps.

comment How to play repeating notes quickly in the left hand on the piano
My teacher suggested alternating three fingers (3, 2, 1, 3, 2, 1…). The hand will then move slightly «deeper» into the keyboard and then back. No tilting is required, the palm is always parallel to the keyboard.

comment What are some interesting ways notes and chords are spelled in cultures outside of the U.S.?
Indrek: this is not true, C and Do are exactly the same. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Musical_note

comment Using keyboard/MIDI controller to learn piano
Look for features like weighted keys should you go with a MIDI-keyboard. Simple on-off buttons that look somewhat like piano keys are useless for the purpose of teaching.

comment Starting piano - which instrument to choose?
Piano is a bit more complex than guitar, and it involves unobvious, unnatural and counter-intuitive techniques. Learning them by yourself is time-consuming and carries danger of acquiring bad habits instead. (Bad habits are much worse than no habits because they require A LOT of effort to overcome.) I'm not sure if it is possible at all to become a semi-decent pianist without a good teacher.

I would also highly recommend finding a good sitting position because in wrong position (wrong height, keyboard too close or too far) playing is extremely straining and possibly even damaging to your hands. If you are not tight on budget I would recommend an adjustable piano chair or bench. If you are, a simple kitchen-type IKEA table and a chair with old magazines for height modification would do. This is a diagram on how to choose position: pianoworld.com/Uploads/files/Benchheight.JPG

Yes. Yes, it is. Proper pedal technique is important for pretty much all piano music. (I have seen a few études that don't require a pedal though, and also music that was originally written for harpsichord. But these are exceptions.)
