comment Yamaha vs Casio digital piano - is there an objective comparison?
@mydog: They also have the "PX-130," which is the same piano but with less instruments and a cheaper price-tag (I think it's also missing the SD-card slot)

comment What is good software for learning how to sight-read?
It's not free to hook up to a midi keyboard. However, this is exactly what I was looking for, so if I can't find anything better, I think I will have to pay the $12.

comment Are there any games useful for ear training?
@Tangurena: There is no "pro" mode for vocals in Rock Band, only expert difficulty (pro mode is something entirely different)

I've seen "eMedia Piano & Keyboard Method" in the past and was not impressed.

comment What is good software for learning how to sight-read?
There are lots of good answers, and I haven't had a chance to try them all yet (I'll mark my favorite as accepted, after I've tried them all). However, I am giving this one the bounty because, though it is very ugly, it not only looks like it does everything I'd like, but it's open-source! I may even consider contributing to this if I like it enough...

comment Why do standard modern pianos have 88 keys?
This answer is interesting, but doesn't seem to answer the actual question of why they added the extra four keys

comment Is there any real-world difference between time signatures such as 4/4 and 8/8?
You can use <pre> </pre> tags if you want a monospace font but without syntax highlighting (which was not a problem for this answer, but may be in the future)

Heh, funny; I actually looked into those before for something completely separate, but never put any thought into it for this. I'll take a look at it - thanks!

comment How should I “store” my guitars?
When the music and guitar SE's are merged, this question should be merged with http://music.stackexchange.com/questions/1992/how-to-properly-store-valuable-gu‌itars

comment Guitar isn't playing in tune
This may sound obvious, but... is the guitar in tune? The strings may be in tune with each other, but if the guitar itself is below standard tuning (ie. the E-string is playing closer to a D), it screws up the intonation, especially on the bass strings.

comment Proper maintenance for classic guitars?
@talonx: I have a nylon-string guitar which I've had for three years, and have only changed the strings twice. It still sounds fantastic. My dad has a 12-string fender which he has had for 30 years, and I don't think he's ever changed the strings on it (at least, not in the last 25 years that I've been alive :) ). It still sounds beautiful, and the strings are surprisingly (to me, at least) not rusting at all. So, your mileage on these things may vary.

comment What are some good slap guitar resources?
You may be interested in the tap-master of japan, Kotaro Oshio. I mention him not (just) because he is my personal favorite, but because he has video tutorials for the techniques involved in each of his most popular songs, most of which can be found on youtube. Yes, he is speaking Japanese, but you don't need to understand the language to understand what he's saying, for the most part.
