comment When learning a piece, concentrate on playing the beginning really well or the whole piece the same?
+1 for "tune in my head". I play fingerstyle Guitar and I find it much easier to always start from the beginning so I can find the "tune in my head" instead of blindly following the tab or notation.

[Update] Finally after trying for two weeks I am able to do it with my thumb. I think I would stick for thumb when its fit and other times (When I don't need to play the 6th string 2nd fret) normal D chord ...

Problem is when I have to play Low E (2nd fret) and high E (Open) it creating the same problem for me. So I am right now trying to stick with the thumb fretting and give it a try for a couple of weeks. It sounds fine if I very carefully do the chord form but not when I change from different chords but I hope that will go with practice.

Unfortunately there are many other practice lessons and songs that uses this chord and not all of them have the low E at same pitch for other chords :(.

This answer is also good but I have to chose only one :) but I will follow this advice as well and move to the next lesson whenever I feel I am satisfied :)

The exact problem I am currently facing is changing from E to B7 chord shape quickly. I do practice the piece everyday but should I stop and perfect it or move to the next exercises (With some time for the older exercises as well) which does not involve B7 and eventually changing to B7 will come easier to me.
