comment How do I chose my first electrical guitar?
Also, if the fret ends stick out of the neck and cut your hand, that's a problem.

comment Can I play a regular guitar as a Lap Steel by replacing its strings with steel strings?
The action of my acoustic is naturally high enough that I can play steel on it, without a nut extender. Not that this is how it should be. Be aware that you can get something playable like this, but for what we normally think of for this style, you really want something with a resonator.

comment Which instrument can a person play with 2 malformed fingers on each hand?
I'd point out that Jerry Garcia and Phil Keaggy lost part of their picking hands.

comment Violin strings breaking in fingerboard area
With the addition of the "strings unwinding", I have an unrelated answer to my previous answer. I used to play acoustic in an otherwise electric band, and I would play hard so I could hear myself, and I would play with a brass pick to sound brighter, so I could hear myself. I got to the point of getting an unwound G string for my acoustic, just so the windings wouldn't break and split. That is very unusual. It only happened with me when I was playing hard with what amounted to a small brass knife. There is something, and I have no idea what, that's going on with your strings.

comment Why does the D string in a guitar breaks so often?
The most common string to break for me, before I learned to tune, was the E because I overtighten it. Once I got better at tuning, I started first grinding then popping the G string, but that was because I was swinging hard and using a brass pick which was sharpening against the strings, which is not a common case. I only break the low E when there's a problem with the string manufacturer. Which can and does happen. If the D string breaks often for you, talk to your repair guy.

comment Is it possible for the unwound strings wear faster than the wound strings on a Guitar?
I agree. When I lose a string, I usually use that as an indicator that the others are about ready to go, too.

comment How do you identify a good guitar?
Thing is, if a person wants to play like Jimi, no acoustic will satisfy her, and if a person wants play delicate acoustic to accompany a voice like Joni Mitchell, few electrics are up to that task and they're expensive, and Joni went MIDI and electric way late. They're distinct instruments and not too comparable.

comment How can I generate nice-sounding random chord progressions?
It is common to use lower case to indicate minors. So, that would be I, ii, iii, IV, V, vi. I don't know how they indicate diminished.

I don't have a good clean with chorus that I could really do that, but I see that. Thanks for the suggestion.
