Trouble with schilke trumpet valves Hah! Hah!!! The trumpet was friend's father's college trumpet, and hasn't been played much since then. It came with woodwind bore oil, and I never applied it because I didn't know if it would mess things it. I accidentally applied it a couple of weeks ago and it started working just fine! I think you're completely right! |

Trouble with schilke trumpet valves @Gauthier Well, it turns out if I play the valves from an angle the trumpet is almost playable. Pressing them straight down is significantly worse. Very surprising solution. |

Trouble with schilke trumpet valves @Gauthier Roger. I tried for a minute last night, but I'll give it some serious effort this evening. That would be by far my favorite solution. |

Trouble with schilke trumpet valves @Gauthier Interesting. The trumpet tech also maintained that tehy couldn't make the slides stick, which was weird because it isn't very subtle. Oiling only helps pretty marginally. I am of the opinion that the benefit might just come from taking the slides out and putting them back in. So frustrating. |

Trouble with schilke trumpet valves @Luke How rectifiable is that? And how do you go about proving that that's what is causing the friction? |

Trouble with schilke trumpet valves @NReilingh interesting. They do have a large student rental population. |
