comment Tempo, time signature and note lengths
Also keep in mind that if your tempo comes from a midi file, that note length will always be a quarter note regardless of what the sheet music notates it as. Technically in microseconds per quarternote which translates to quarter notes per minute

comment What electronic keyboard can I upload music to play on it?
also, the lights only tell you that you're already TOO LATE at hitting a note. Use software like Synthesia or PianoCheetah to see notes on the screen instead. And buy a real keyboard - the ones that have those lights are totally cheap and crappy.

comment Can someone learn practicing piano with a MIDI keyboard?
It's not so much that you need more muscle strength for a true keyboard. More that your hand can't rest stress-free on the lite keys - you have to physically hold them up. And stress-free is a big deal playing piano. You also have more delicate control over weighted keys.

comment Is an inversion a different chord, or a different voicing?
As a piano player, this seems weird to me. Not a different voicing when the octaves are DIFFERENT? Even if the bass player is doing bass, I'd say the arrangement is different. I mean, sure, original and inverted will sound similar. But you want to pay careful attention to that if you're on piano following strict voice leading with a vocalist, eh?

comment What are the principles for improvising over an ostinato?
Well, you can win here. If you truly want an answer, start with one very specific question and provide what you've researched or know so far. This place gives great answers. If you need to answer a similar question, wait and see your response on the first.

you are making a million questions... if you provide your understanding of improv for the style so far, you might get some answers. you're kind of asking for a blank check...

this sort of vague question is what a vocal teacher will answer well and we won't answer well

i don't think there's a definitive answer for this question. But Rush is known for changing time signatures aaaaall the time.
