My high E string broke after one week of replacing my guitar strings. Could that be an installation issue? @VarLogRant You're right. I posted here because it was the second time for a string to break, but I haven't broken them since. |

How can I reproduce the effects on this riff in Iron Maiden - Afraid to Shoot Strangers? @MatthewRead Okay, thanks. Yes, I'll probably ask about the software in another question. |

Is there some software tool that analyzes audio to produce pitch information? @Luke Mac OS X. I haven't tried Transcribe, but from what I understand it's similar to Capo. |

Is there some software tool that analyzes audio to produce pitch information? @WheatWilliams True. But Capo makes the process significantly easier. For the past few days, I've been trying the two apps you linked to in your answer. Yes, they are more automated than Capo, but they weren't accurate enough to be useful for the examples I tried. Melodyne was good to know about though, because it does so much more that transcription, and is an excellent editor for certain things. |

Is there some software tool that analyzes audio to produce pitch information? @UlfÅkerstedt It does seem to handle them (somewhat). I can zoom in pretty far and get good detail, but like I said, the spectrogram it draws looks rather messy, and the farther you zoom in, the messier it gets. I haven't tried the program for cleaner recordings though. |

Is there some software tool that analyzes audio to produce pitch information? I just downloaded the trial and transcribed the first part of the song I linked to (although the spectrogram was really messy, possibly because of the song's poor quality). Anyway, what a great tool! I love it! I'm surprised it's only for mac though. Anyway, great suggestion. |

My high E string broke after one week of replacing my guitar strings. Could that be an installation issue? Could be. I guess I'll get a few sets of strings as @WheatWilliams suggested. |

My high E string broke after one week of replacing my guitar strings. Could that be an installation issue? I don't think I tuned it too high, since I used my computer to tune it. However, I suspect you're right about the sharp fret. Yes, I do press hard on the string and push it up when I bend it. And it did snap near the thirteenth fret, where the bend is in that song. |

My high E string broke after one week of replacing my guitar strings. Could that be an installation issue? Sure: that week I played about an hour or two a day. The string broke near the thirteenth fret (where the bend is), and it was the high E string. |
