What do you call plucking the violin strings with the finger, rather than using the bow? Linguistic note: Pizzicato is italian for “plucked” or “pinched” |

How can I teach a student who seems to have no rhythm? very nice answer. A steady beat does wonders, even for musicians with more experience. There's nothing like clapping LOUD - the metronome is too discreet! |

Power chord: Can the lower fifth be used? for what is worth, this kind of inversion is my preferred way of playing the opening riff from “Smoke on the Water”. I wouldn't have it any other way. |

Why do minor keys sound “sad”? I don't feel this answer is really correct. The overtones for the notes composing the minor chord are always present as well. |

Able to recall music in its correct key, but don't have perfect pitch — what is it called? Seems pretty useful as a skill! |

Is there a “standard” or “typical” drum kit layout? You didn't mention: are you right- or left-handed? Left handed people can invert all the positions or learn to play "regular" |
