comment What type of strings to use for easier bending in fast solos?
"Most people say you get "more" tone out of thicker gauges" but Tony Iommi and Ty Tabor use very light strings, for instance. I think the tone issue is more relevant with less distorted blues or classic rock tones than with metal-ish styles. I'd say go for the light gauges for comfort, and wonder about the tone in a couple of weeks/months.

comment How should I tune a guitar with a Floyd Rose tremolo?
This specific hint ibanezrules.com/tech/setup/tuning.htm and the whole tech section of this site were extremely useful to me.

comment What does the 3 above the staff represent?
That's because it's the right way to do it (^_^). As an example, here's someone taking this approach too far vai.com/tempo-mental (O_o)

comment What does the 3 above the staff represent?
A tip that was useful to me as to how to play it when you don't know how a triplet over several beats sounds or feel : play 3 "eight" notes for both quarter note, making it 6 1/8 over 2 1/4. Then only play the 1st, 3rd and 5th notes of that group : that is where the attacks of the triplet will fall. A bit like adding fractions with different denominators, really.

comment How does string gauge affect a guitar's sound and playability?
While the reasoning behind the sound part is... well, sound, IRL it seems not to be an absolute rule. Tony Iommi & Ty Tabor are playing extra-light and light gauges, for example.

comment What is the Difference between Maple and Rosewood Fretboards
It does make a difference on an otherwise identical guitar! But ultimately touch and look matter more to me. I'm team rosewood.

comment Should a Floyd Rose bridge be parallel to the body of the guitar?
I've had a Floyd not parallel to the body, and I've had issues : basically only one direction would go back to tuning. I've corrected the angle and everything is smooth (not to mention the overall action and pickup height are easier to set up). I'm not sure the Beck comparison is correct, for two reasons : 1 - a strat trem is quite different; 2 - the guy has a guitar tech. It's quite different if you have to set the whole thing up and take care of it yourself, especially if guitar playing is a hobby.

comment Is it possible for a left hander to learn guitar right handed?
I'll add Steve Morse and Mattias Eklundh to the list. I actually asked Mattias how it felt learning to play right-handed guitar and he replied "As far as I'm concerned I'm playing left-handed guitar" ^^
