Capturing music in my head I'd like to add another nice thing about playing piano for composing: you can literally see the relationships and intervals between notes. This will probably help you understand music theory more easily than other instruments, such as the clarinet. |

Determining the root key and note of this riff Well all of the notes seem to be heading towards an A. Notice how prevelant the A is in the phrases. Basically I just played the riff in my head, and it sounded like A. Theoretically this could also be C major, but that seems less likely. |
