I am a high school senior in New York, studying lots of interesting stuff including Comp Sci and music and math. I play the trumpet, flugelhorn, bass, and guitar. I have used Apple gear (Macs, iPhones, and iPods) for years, and have become a cheap IT guy for local small businesses. I have recently started iOS development, see my website for more info!

Are there any (experimental) guitar strings whose cross-section is not a circle? Very interesting... thanks |

Guitar Action for practicing and learning I think it also depends on where on the fretboard you're playing. The lower down (like metal) it is, I think higher action becomes less of a problem. (lets you pick hard, reduces buzz for the open chords, etc) |

Jazz mouthpiece for flugelhorn? I love my current mouthpiece, I'm just looking for a mouthpiece that would fill a bit of a different role. |

Jazz mouthpiece for flugelhorn? We have an eight person section, so the flugel really helps round out the sound from the other trumpets. That isn't the issue. |

Jazz mouthpiece for flugelhorn? True. thing is, I play my flugel for cornet parts in my HS Wind Ensemble and some of them can get a bit rangy, in addition to jazz pieces. |

Jazz mouthpiece for flugelhorn? Thanks. I've got a Yamaha Bobby Shew Custom, so my guess is it can go as high as any other flugel-he sure can play high. |

How to remove a rusted mouthpiece? I doubt WD-40 would work, as the rust isn't just a source of friction but is acting as a bonding agent. |

Can I split guitar string gauges? I can deal with the second issue-for super-heavy stuff, I like the lighter top to cut thru the bass. |
