I am a high school senior in New York, studying lots of interesting stuff including Comp Sci and music and math. I play the trumpet, flugelhorn, bass, and guitar. I have used Apple gear (Macs, iPhones, and iPods) for years, and have become a cheap IT guy for local small businesses. I have recently started iOS development, see my website for more info!

How can I do rough vocals without hurting my voice? Not really the sort of answer I was looking for, but still sounds interesting |

How can I do rough vocals without hurting my voice? When I do that, it always causes some throat pain and makes me lose my voice within a few minutes unless im well lubricated. It seems to me that rough should be easier than growling, no? |

Is there a name for the screeching sound made when changing chords on a guitar? A lot of hard rock depends on that sound during slower sections, see Seether. |

Proper way to finger Flugelhorn I have tiny hands, but find I play much more expressively with the meat of my fingers rather than the tips. |

Are there any (experimental) guitar strings whose cross-section is not a circle? Very interesting... thanks |

Are there any (experimental) guitar strings whose cross-section is not a circle? How expensive are sheep gut strings? |

Guitar Action for practicing and learning I think it also depends on where on the fretboard you're playing. The lower down (like metal) it is, I think higher action becomes less of a problem. (lets you pick hard, reduces buzz for the open chords, etc) |

Jazz mouthpiece for flugelhorn? I love my current mouthpiece, I'm just looking for a mouthpiece that would fill a bit of a different role. |

Jazz mouthpiece for flugelhorn? We have an eight person section, so the flugel really helps round out the sound from the other trumpets. That isn't the issue. |

Jazz mouthpiece for flugelhorn? True. thing is, I play my flugel for cornet parts in my HS Wind Ensemble and some of them can get a bit rangy, in addition to jazz pieces. |

Jazz mouthpiece for flugelhorn? Thanks. I've got a Yamaha Bobby Shew Custom, so my guess is it can go as high as any other flugel-he sure can play high. |

How to remove a rusted mouthpiece? I doubt WD-40 would work, as the rust isn't just a source of friction but is acting as a bonding agent. |

Can I split guitar string gauges? I can deal with the second issue-for super-heavy stuff, I like the lighter top to cut thru the bass. |

How many drop tunings can I use with one set of strings? I already use 11s as my normal strings because I play a lot of metal and like the tight response. Are 11s big enough? |
