comment What are the pros and cons of Traditional Grip vs. Matched Grip for snare and drumset?
Absolutely. Unless you're unsatisfied with your current grip or you feel you can gain so much more from another grip, there are many more things I would put my time into before learning another grip. Obviously mastering both has never hurt anyone, but as most of us have limited amount of hours, I would seriously compare the benefits you get from learning a new grip vs. improving your current abilities.

comment How to close the gap between ideas and capabilities when improvising?
If I understood correctly, we're talking about how to transform ideas from your head into your playing. We're talking about being constrained by your PLAYING abilities, unable to execute ideas you can HEAR. There is no one solution. One is to practice, practice, practice and thus broaden your skill set, but I wouldn't underestimate the power of your mind. Visualizing what you hear, organizing these ideas into actual beats/compositions. I'm not downplaying the importance of practice, but sometimes it's all in your head too. ;)

This is pretty much how it goes in Finland as well. It's been brought up in other answers, but I can't stress enough how important communication is. Get in touch with whoever provides the backline as well as the stage manager, if there is one. You want things to go as smoothly as possible on the day of the show. It helps a lot if everyone knows beforehand what's happening and are familiar with each other / on friendly terms.

comment How to prevent snare rattle?
I agree with both of you. A bit of rattling is normal, but when you play through your toms, if you notice one tom produces more rattle than another, then that's what you want to fix. I recommend altering the tuning of that tom in question slightly. A tad higher or lower. Usually it's a fairly small change that helps you get rid of excessive rattle.
