@Tim alto sax player here. What jjmusicnotes said, and also, most of the "black keys" on a sax are more similar to the "white key" just below. For example, the fingering for D# is the same as D, with one extra key pressed, rather than being the same as E with one less key pressed. I think that's probably part of why sharps feel more comfortable for us.
