@JduV, I guess I don't know, that is sort of the question...(= I don't know what to look for, But I would like to get as close to the sound that my sound card sends out..

comment How to stop distortion from making minor chords muddy?
You talk a whole answer about the Tubescreamer without mentioning the JRC4558 chip! Unusual... Great answer though! This is exactly the reason why I don't use multieffects (as well as the sound..). It is so much easier to tweak when you have all components right in front of you!

comment What can be done about a buzzy sitar-like fret?
Well, I have a cheapo guitar that has terrible fretbuzz in certain places when using lighter strings. When putting heavier gauge in the action rises a bit and voila, problem solved! However, This is of course a dirty trick , but works in some cases .

+1 I completely agree on the acoustic first part! There's nothing worse than listening to a mega distorted ,untight version of proud mary!

comment Muting technique and exercises
Cool, never seen that before , I googled it and found some pretty cool licks. The both hands can also be used when playing some fast runs (in metal for example) but I guessed the OP was trying to learn the basics of muting!

comment Does anyone make nylon strings for a standard acoustic guitar (non-classical)?
It might be necessary to use a file to get them to fit... However it can be done! I don't know why anyone would want to do it though..

comment Powering 5 high-current draw effects pedals
@Jduv .I agree, the t-rex seems like a better option... But I don't know what Ian C needs if the pedals really draw 1200mA each?

+1 for the "thematic" comment! (and for the rest of the answer as well)

The pp2+ (note plus) will most certainly run 4x12V for the other effects and leave the port 5 and 6 for the delay.

comment Bending a Harmonic
It's a real neck breaker so that's probably why not so many use it...

Btw. This technique may damage your neck, so try it at your own risk!

comment Bending a Harmonic
This is not true! He pushes the neck, which results in lower tension -> lower pitch!

comment Bad sound from amp
Have you tested another guitar? Usually all kinds of weird noises/feedbacks can come with cheap mics or bad wiring. The amp would be the last thing I would check in your case.
