comment Tips for tuning a dulcimer/psaltery/etc with arthritis?
Yes, this approach works! For testing I duct-taped a longer dowel to my T wrench; that's not the long-term solution you want, but it was easy to experiment with.

Or tell the drummer to listen to the mix in headphones if he can't tone it down.

@Meeka, when you're crammed into a tight space, do you need the monitors? Can you see and hear each other well enough without them, thus eliminating the feedback problem?

Oh wow. Thank you for pointing out Tom Doughty to me, and also for the great suggestion about extending the T wrench. That sounds like it would work well and shouldn't be too hard to fabricate.

comment Is there any real difference between Counterpoint and Polyphony?
Right, not all rennaisance polyphony is counterpoint, not by a long shot. I agree with the first sentence of your first comment -- counterpoint is a type of polyphony.

Hi again. Did you ever get a chance to ask around? Thanks.

True! (I never played with brass; we had a marching band only, and I played piano. :-) )

Yes, I wondered about that sort of thing too! Eventually I learned. :-) (While I learned to play music from a young age, I didn't actually learn any music theory until college -- at which point I realized how much I'd been missing out on.)
