The question is more about what is it, or maybe how is it actually done in the instrument. It is a different question what sound am I hearing than what is producing that sound.

I am using Sibelius7. Could it be that instruments are sometimes made with different types of brass (changing the proportion of copper) and somehow they are trying to model the change in the sound? Just guessing.

@Read. I once read that in ancient China they would make a temple with all columns identical and one upside down. The idea is that having a clear symmetry slightly broken is more pleasant than perfect symmetry. In the same way, it is pleasant to have chaos or apparent chaos in which a symmetry is barely seen. It is a general aesthetic principle that works in all forms of art.

OK, I just bought a Korg SP-250. Let's see what she says about it when it arrives. She said she had tried a Casio CDP120CS and was 'ok'. The Korg seems to be nicer, smaller, and lighter than the Casio, so I guess it should be fine. Thanks.

I had the idea that maybe with an electronic keyboard I can save in space and weight a little for not having the strings and the hammer mechanism. I was comparing Yamahas b3 (an upright piano), and the DGX-340 (an electronic one with weighted keys). A little bit is saved.

I think the size of the full keyboard is fine, plus perhaps the stand. I was thinking in saving on the space and weight of the strings (are they called strings?). I thought a vertical piano would have the depth of the keyboard plus the case in which the strings and the mechanism are. Today I saw the Yamaha DGX-640. I think that size might be fine.

@Witthoft. I took a look at Yamaha's hybrid pianos NU1 that seem to be what you are saying, the hammer mechanism on an electronic piano, but they are too big for her appartment. I think. Maybe it is better to get a bigger apartment and then get the NU1 directly instead of a smaller and perhaps lower quality piano. I wanted to know if smaller electronic pianos exist with the feel of a mechanical piano.

comment Iannis Xenakis' Artistic Aesthetic and Public Perception
It is true there are a few people outside, but if you look carefully you can see there is some public among the musicians. For example at 1:01 you can see them.

Another request he could have made that is not very specific to the musicians performing the piece could be if Xenakis asks certain composition to be listened while looking at certain painting, or some sculpture, any other form of art going beyond the music. It might probably be interesting if examples are given from other composers but I was interested specifically if Xenakis did this sort of requests. I went recently to a conference about Xenakis and Math but didn't get to ask this question to the experts on Xenakis. (A not-musician-mathematician -->)

comment Iannis Xenakis' Artistic Aesthetic and Public Perception
In my question I intended to make some emphasis in Xenakis' expectations as how the public consumes some of his compositions. In Terrektorh he expects the public to be around the musicians but ultimately it can be seen as a request for the musicians to be inside the public. Incidentally the public will be around the musicians. I would be interested to see if he made some demands or suggestions that are specific to how the public should consume some music of his. I don't remember if I gave some ridiculous example, like ask the public tolisten tothismusicwhiletakingbreakfast, orsomethinglikethat.
