Pat Benatar is a counter example to your "thick" argument. :) She's a tiny little thing with a rich, powerful voice.

comment What electric guitar strings are the most rust-resistant?
I've tried for years to answer this question. The best answer for me was: Use D'Addario strings and immediately wipe them down with Old School Aqua Velva when done playing. I learned this from an old dude in the '80s and I still have the original bottle of Aqua Velva I bought back then to test with. Note that I tried numerous things in place of the Aqua Velva... Alcohol, Windex, 409, Fast Fret, Some Ernie Ball string cleaning product... Nothing worked quite as well as the AV... My old guitar cases smell very strongly of it now... :)

comment Guitar audio interface matching tone of my old amp, and a problem
Most amp sims are only good at simulating a few amps. For example, the Fender Sims (Mustang Amps/Floor pedal) are very good at most Fender sounds. The Vox Sims are good at Vox sounds (Tonelab series of hardware/software) The rest of the simulations are average at best and take a lot of work to get a good sound. Expect to have to tune everything. The input levels from the interface, the sound shaping controls on the amp, the post processing tools all interact to make a big complicated pile... It gets easier as you get experienced with your tools. Find 1 or 2 you like and stick with them.

comment How to determine what key changes are appropriate?
Give a listen to a few songs that use a modulation/key change to push the singer or solo instrument a little harder or where it's used solely for effect. The first solo in ZZ Top's LaGrange shifts from A to C for the solo. Lynyrd Skynyrd's You Got That Right shifts up a whole step near the end. Linda Ronstadt has a duet version of When Will I be loved that modulates so she can use "power mode" near the end and be more mellow in the beginning. I think the duet was with Cher, but... Fuzzy old guy memory...

comment What factors contribute most to the tone of an electric guitar?
IMO, This is the best of a bunch of subjective answers for a question that some consider voodoo and religious. Still, I think all of these answers underrate playing style and how you pick and how you finger the notes. Listen to SRV play something with a pick and then switch to fingers. Lenny is a good example. Wes Montgomery is also very distinct in this respect.

Practice. Another cliche sounding answer from me today, but facts are facts.

Attentuators are very subjective just like tube amps. Some people love them, some hate them etc...

comment With which strings would I have an easier time bending/sliding/vibrato on acoustic guitar?
@DrMayhem: It happens for me... Especially with a brand new fast fret application. The strings slip from under my fingers in all cases. I've been playing for about 32 years and have tried FF several times since it was first created.

IME, Fast Fret and coated strings make it harder to bend as things are slippery... Tuning down to Eb or D would probably be the better idea for bending. Sliding is a different story. Choose your poison! :)

comment How to play a song without making mistakes?
Off Topic, but... Why are all these old questions popping to the top of the list? An amateur does something until he gets it right. A professional does something until he cannot get it wrong.

comment What are the differences between these tuning machines?
The quality of the Fender tuning machines is quite a bit better than the behringers. Other than that, there's probably not much difference. Beware of very cheap tuners.

Is Dunning/Kruger in effect here? The nastiness makes me wonder.
