comment Acoustic guitar: How to stop right index finger nail from wearing away?
I'm mostly fixing this through changing how I hold the pick, but I'll also try a small finger pick on my right index finger and see if it helps any. Having many tools for the same problem is a great thing, IMO.

@WheatWilliams - I was just hired by this band, but yes, I think that's fairly accurate. "Ren-friendly world folk fusion", perhaps. (I'm relatively new to ren faire music, so forgive the ambiguities here.)

I see it, they seem to hover around US$2k. I'm trying to find a video that has an example of one of these used as a bass in a ren or folk band.

@slim - Renfest band, but not tied down to period accuracy. (There's a lot of Celtic and Indian music in the mix.)

That would be a great solution, but I suspect for the long term. What's the price range on these?

(1) It's a renaissance band, and an upright doesn't fit with the period, unfortunately. Also, (2) I don't know how to play one.

comment How to fret an F# root note with a drop-E capo?
And, unfortunately, this is about as far as I can back the capo off the frets and still have it hold the notes down well. But perhaps I could cut the end in a bit with a hacksaw and angle it. Hmm...

That's exactly what I do on my dreadnought - angle my thumb in there. But on this guitar, I really don't have the room for this.

comment Will hanging a guitar by its headstock damage it?
Electric or acoustic guitar? I've recently become aware that this makes a huge difference. "Acoustic guitar rooms" in guitar shops are often humidified.

Type of guitar? A solidbody electric guitar will have different issues than a delicate acoustic guitar.

This seems to make sense, but can you cite a source for this information?

comment What is a “producer” in hip-hop music?
@WheatWilliams - The point is that this is too basic; it can be answered by a simple search on Wikipedia. (It really should have been closed as "general reference", but that close reason doesn't exist on this site.)

comment What can I build into my guitar and use the “tone pots” buttons to adjust?
This isn't an answerable questions, it's a call for discussion. Vote to close.
