I am a C# developer and web designer.
I play guitar in Lynchburg (The band, not the city).
I have an unhealthly love of the Telecaster.
I'm a tech-nerd.

What makes the 4/4 back-beat rhythm of rock-n-roll so compelling? That's a really nice answer. It would also tie in nicely with the work place or chain gang song, and of course running or rowing type activities to motivating music. |

guitar cabinet: why not just use a PA speaker cabinet? Single block of text was a chore to read, +1 for the content though :) |

Power chord: Can the lower fifth be used? E:3, A:3, D:5, G:5, is my favourite way to play this power chord :) |

Power chord: Can the lower fifth be used? It's not a forth if the root is (using the original posted example) considered the C. Isn't G the fifth of C regardless of where they are played?? Every chord can be called multiple names depending on the usage. Like most things in music, context is key. |

Hot guitar pickup @Jduv, It is all about balance. I disagree that a high fidelity tone is necessarily more modern, but I don't think high output or high fidelity is the one defining characteristic of modern. But high output is a modern trend, read the description of these humbuckers from BareKnuckle. Their vintage range is "clear and smooth", vintage hot is "clear with extra output", and contemporary range uses terms like "For players looking for even more output", "masses of power", "stacks of output" bareknucklepickups.co.uk/main/… |

What instrument is inexpensive and can be self-taught? Why has this answer been down voted? I see nothing wrong with it (except the grammar). |
