Programmer, Bass Player, Philosopher.
I love to program in Python and Prolog, to listen to the Pixies, Neil Young and QOTSA, and to read Ludwig Wittgenstein, Richard Rorty, Willard Quine, Donald Davidson and Nelson Goodman.

How do I develop a good vibrato? Another Guitarist who uses vibrato-via-tremolo-bar is Neil Young. In this live performance video he first uses his left hand for vibrato starting at around 3:11 and then ten seconds later he switches to trem bar vibrato. |

Trouble keeping time to a beat Yes. I met people who couldn't keep their beat if their life depended on it. Very sad. Then again, maybe they didn't own a metronome ;-) |

How to start self learning to play guitar? @horatio: You know nothing about the history of Punk and Andy Warhol's role in it, do ya? Probably haven't heard of The Velvet Underground and The New York Dolls. Or, you're just an old Hippie who still hasn't gotten over it. |

How to start self learning to play guitar? @horatio: How is something mean-spirited today that was considered emancipating and liberating in the seventies? The point I was trying to make, and the point the Sideburns Fanzine was trying to make (in its Dec. 1976 issue, from which the image is copied) is this: there is no special esoteric knowledge or wisdom needed to create music. The most important thing is to start somehow, even if it's with three chords. This attitude is deeply rooted in Andy Wahrhol's conviction that what matters is creativity and imagination, not technique. If we forget that, our culture is in big trouble. |
