comment Learning pick and finger-picking at the same time?
@shootingstars no not at all if you have the time during the song to adjust the grip off you plectrum to allow for finger playing faster songs maybe a problem. dropping the Plectrum maybe a concern haha!

comment Learning pick and finger-picking at the same time?
I have to disagree if you can learn different styles it will broaden your musical horizons playing with different techniques is a great way of increasing proficiency with any instrument. Different grip with drumming for example.

comment How to adapt guitar playing style to a new genre
@muffin haha no problem the list goes on I would run out of characters on the comments section if I named them all :P. Heres a few more to get the creative Juices flowing stemming from Metal core to thrash to Groove Metal. Lamb of God, Disturbed, Hatebreed, As I Lay Dying, Killswitch Engage, Atreyu, Avenged Sevenfold, Chimera.

Asking Alexandria wouldn't have been my first choice but alternate picking is a key technique to materialize in Metalcore its mostly 4/4 timing signature and above 150bpm so teaching your brain the alternate picking manoeuvre would be very beneficial look at the likes of early Bullet for My Valentine, All That Remains and Trivium. you will be surprised to know that metal has punk influences in some of its riffs and structures.

comment Drummer: Follow Bassist, Guitarist, or Lead
I think the structure of a song and the time keeping is a team effort I find myself in certain places following everyone at different times. its just what clicks to me that "Oh now I should be playing this riff" and so on..

comment Difficulty tuning in Drop D
I would definitely check whether you have a floating bridge because those are also part of the tuning process as it will drop if the strings are loosened.

comment Getting Started Recording and Arranging Drums, Guitar, Bass, Vocals, Etc
I would suggest splitting this question into the three separate questions that you have stated although be warned the second question WILL be closed as off topic. and the third will not be well received as it is purely down to personal preference. but for the first question you need only buy 4 cheep mics 2 for overhead 1 for snare and 1 for bass drum.

comment How to sync original bpm of an mp3 file to the bpm of my drum module?
can you not set the bpm when you start creating the loop, then match the same bpm on the click track by entering it?

comment Is there a “standard” or “typical” drum kit layout?
In practice there is no real Standard set up, because you need to adjust the positioning of each individual element to suit your person. Each kit is unique to its user. that's the way I see to be honest.

comment Is it possible to create a completely new genre of music
yeah it was bound to happen its only dependant on the imagination of the human race and I think as a race we have become so caught up in "getting famous" or spinning some sob story on X Factor to get a sympathy vote that music will never progress, UNLESS it travelled backwards a couple of decades.

comment Proper technique for screaming vocal style
Well if you live by the rock and roll lifestyle its live fast and die young, i think most of the time when people say things like "Oh he wont last long he'll destroy his voice" they are just jealous that they are getting world wide recognition. i never used to be into to screaming vocals when i was younger so i didn't think it was cool then. but after ten to twelve years of understanding it. i respect the technique entirely. and also which singers in any genre do you know that are still performing worldwide at 85 years old??

comment Is it possible to create a completely new genre of music
genres are so minute these days they merge into everything with all bands trying to be their own genre to stand out from the crowd, from "Tech death metal" to "jungle pussy punk rock". people will always disagree on the genre of music apart from the core rock, metal , reggie, pop and dance/ RnB.

comment Proper technique for screaming vocal style
You can all say that screaming deteriorates the vocal performance and what not but there are vocalists like Jesse from Killswitch Engage which use clean vocals and scream in kind and his voice has vastly improved over the years he's been in the band there is indeed a way to scream which is exactly like singing cleanly.

comment Will changing my grip help avoid wrist pain?
Look up French Grip, German Grip and American Grip, those are the most frequently used and in my opinion German Grip reduces the strain as it follows the natural up and down movement of the wrist
