Looking for a 'Danse Macabre' baroque antecedent @bmargulies: "same dissonance, same rhythm" - you mean the a-es, "the devil tuning its violin" (see here, third paragraph)? I think the using of the "tritonus" in baroque chamber music with violin and recorder would be quite rare. So if you're sure it was a augmented fourth maybe this fact would be a startign poitn for further search. |
