Do distortion pedals work well with tube amps? Or should I use a tube screamer? Just a follow up, I ended up buying the SD-1. Wow. I'm using it as a boost and it is perfect for enhancing leads, or when I want some extra oomph to the existing gain. I even dialed back the amp gain a little as going to 10 felt to be a bit much, but that is my personal preference. With just the SD-1 as boost and no amp overdrive it also sounds nice for a little crunch. I will keep using the DS-1 distortion on clean to mix things up, but this new setup is my preferred tone now. Thanks again for the great advice. |

Do distortion pedals work well with tube amps? Or should I use a tube screamer? That definitely answers my question. I will be looking into either an SD-1 or TS-9 overdrive. I will keep my DS-1 distortion in the mix but only to experiment with. I like this idea as it is almost like having 3 channels, clean, overdrive (amp), and super (amp + pedal overdrives). @Markus, I'm definitely curious as to what pedals you are using. |
