comment How is 12-bar blues harmonically possible?
Try playing Mixolydian scales over each chord. It has the flatted seventh to match chord. Experiment with that and the C Minor and Major pentatonic scales too.

comment With guitar, how long should I give my fingers to strengthen / callous?
You should have it checked by someone to see if the action is correct. That way you can be sure that it is in good playing condition.

comment How to play a Pentatonic Major using a Pentatonic Minor 3 octave shape
If you start in Aeolian realize that is relative to the Major(Ionian) scale. A Minor is relative to C Major. Some more info on modes: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mode_(music)

comment In a Rock/Blues band who dictates the groove?
I'll have to say that it is very subjective where the beat is and how to play to it. I think the conclusion here is not to think about it but play to a metronome and then just play how the song 'feels'.

Now that is what is confusing to me. If everyone is playing behind the beat, who is establishing the beat? I'm assuming the drummer would set the beat and play the bass or snare behind the hi-hat for the feel. Is that what drummers do? Thanks for reply.

There are patterns for the chords like quick change blues or long blues. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twelve-bar_blues As far as melodies, it would be a genius effort to bring it to a new level of awesomeness. Some songs have similar melodies to sound like blues and follow the same patterns.

Interesting. I will look into those options. Many people may not know that.

Because I wanted a rock sound in my Tele. That's why we have an option to change pickups. Love the Tele body and neck but need more powerful sound for modern country.

The OP has not specified if they want strat sound or not. But the pickups will make a big difference to most people. You are extremely particular about sound more than most. Most people with a cheap guitar are not concerned as much. I still disagree with a pickup change being a waste of time because a $90 investment may be worth changing to sound to something more suitable.

Have you ever changed pickups before? How you determine it would be a total waste is bizarre.

Please clarify what sound you are looking for a better answer. Rock, country , or blues?

I felt the same way you do until I took the class on Coursera. Then I learned the structure of how lyrics fit with rhythms. I suppose what I got out of it was the ability to recognize patterns and not reinvent the wheel.
