Ambidextrous instruments Long before I ever got shown the "correct" way to play a guitar, I naturally picked it up in the 'left-hand' position. It makes sense to me that my dominant (right) hand should do the intricate work of fretting the strings while my useless left hand just went back and forth strumming them. |

piano finger spread "Or is this because it's originally an organ piece?" Yes - that's exactly why your fingers are having to play such a range in the hands. The left-hand bass part is played by the feet on the organ, freeing up both your hands to play the rest. |

Which diploma, ATCL or dipABRSM Congrats on your Grade 8! Don't forget that there's a third option - don't do a diploma! Are you doing a diploma for a reason? If not, and you're just doing it for "fun" then just go with the one which has the most interesting syllabus in your opinion. If you're doing it as a stepping stone to something even higher (a Masters degree? a job?) then look closely at the requirements and choose the one that fits best. |

Aiding the transcription of naturally occuring sounds. e.g. Horse whinnying, bird singing, etc Can I ask why you need to replicate a horse with a trombone specifically?! There may be other instruments better suited. It might also help if you could give an example of what a whining horse sounds like, I'm not familiar with horses making any whining sounds. |

Is it dangerous to sing an entire song in falsetto? I reckon Barry Gibb would say no. Reports that outlasting the rest of his brothers has anything to do with singing Falsetto are unconfirmed. |

Does weight and/or body frame has anything to do with singing? This thesis is interesting but you're right there isn't anything conclusive in existing data - i.e. not all Pavarotti look-a-likes are guaranteed to have deep voices. But intuitively, a larger body means a better chance of a larger vocal tract & lungs. A larger vocal tract with more air means a better chance to resonate those deeper notes when "singing from your belly". |

Which Music Instrument Have The Widest Variety of Sounds and Effects? If you're talking any instrument, then obviously an electronic sampler/synth, as you can program it to reproduce whatever soundwave you choose. If you're talking about 'natural' instruments then you'd be looking at a large theatre or pipe organ. You've tagged this 'string instruments', however, which don't really lend themselves to a 'variety of effects'. |
