comment Are there any machine-readable databases of chord progressions available?
@James: Interesting. The reason I ask is because I am a programmer and I think it is possible and within reason to write a program to add a left hand to a melody that ands up sounding good... and I wondered how far that concept has been taken or if that was what you were talking about. That would be the part about "generating chord progressions". Glad this category has not been left untouched!

I am curious. What are you actually doing with this "linguistics-inspired computational musicology on chord progressions"? Are you writing software of some kind?

We prefer not to have link-only answers because if the get-tuned.com goes down or gets re-worked, the answer would likely become useless. I edited in the illistration.

Nov. 18, 1995, Itzhak Perlman, violinist. Takes a long time to walk onto stage due to polio, had a string in his violin break near beginning of performance, made necessary composition corrections on the spot.

comment What do the 3/4 and 4/4 numbers mean?
@ogerard: The asker did not ask if it would be written differently, he asked if it would sound differently. All the sheet music software I have seen changes the bar lines automatically. And I would be highly surprised if the asker was hand-writing his music. The down vote was not reasonable in my opinion. Edited anyway.
