comment Which way do I tilt the bow hair?
Regardless of bow technique, it might be a good idea to test a couple of different A-strings. Perhaps you can find one which is not so scratchy after all.

comment What are the benefits and drawbacks of active pickups?
@MeaningfulUsername: most active pickups do not compress the signal. The reason many players think they do is probably just this: active pickups have higher output levels, hence they can push a given amp further into overdrive (and thus compression).

comment How to obtain a Clean yet Distorted guitar sound?
Actually not a bad suggestion, but please explain it in a bit more detail, and particularly why it helps with the sound the question asked about. We're not particularly fond of posts that don't even contain a complete sentence (full stop etc.)

comment Do mixers support 6.5mm mics?
@Tim: yes, definitely. Phantom power should never be applied over 1/4", because these connectors tend to short pins to ground when connecting/disconnecting.

“For whatever reason he chose to use 7 sharps...” because he could. That's really the reason, since WTC was most of all a proof-of-concept work. — I agree that this answer could use some more connection to the question, though there's really good points in there.

removed email and invitation to private contact, the goal of SE is to have all content on the sites, not a private conversation. Corrected orthography on the way.

comment Reducing Neck Pickup Dissonance
Stratitis is a particular problem caused by too strong (and/or too close) magnets. When Alnico pickups loose their power, they loose sound too of course, but this doesn't cause dissonance and has nothing to do with stratitis.

comment If a piano song contains a melody line, should this be removed if we add the singer?
Right. Though it can of course make sense to double certain passages, or possibly add a parallel second voice.

comment Is there any support for microtonality and temperaments in (or beyond) the MIDI specification?
Regardless of that: I'd say that workarounds like .scl (though they do work) remain ugly hacks, and we shouldn't really content ourselves with them. It's a disaster that 7-bit MIDI is still around after being technically out of date for two decades; let's try to at least encourage developers to think of some better replacement rather than focusing on the adaption MIDI for applications it wasn't originally meant to do – it's bad enough at the stuff it was meant for!
