Pianos create very complicated sounds that are not easily synthesized using other methods. The best virtual pianos have many "layers" of high quality samples that are played back based on complicated algorithms. They often combine modeling and convolution technology to control the balances of the different samples and recreate room reverberation and other elements of a complete piano sound. | |

I was wondering how the Piano software instruments in Ableton are created. At first I had guessed they were a synthesizer.. but now you make me think they could be done via sampling.. | |
