It would be feasible to have a different notation and teach that to beginners. Then later, just memorising a translation table for what the old notation means in terms of the one the student is already familiar with would be easy enough (it's literally just discrete replacements in an “alphabet” of ~10 symbols). In comparison, switching between e.g. notation and guitar-tabulature is highly nontrivial, still many teachers will teach both. | |
